NSF GK-12 Fellow
2008-2009
College of Engineering
Bioengineering Department
Advisor: Peter McFetridge, PhD
Mr. Louis Jackson received his B.S. (2007) in Zoology/Biomedical sciences and M.S. (2008) in Chemistry/Biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma. During his tenure as a chemistry master student he received the Graduate Assistantships in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Fellowship. Under the support of his NSF grant he completed his master thesis titled “MOLECULAR PLASMONICS ON GOLD NANOPARTICLES: DEVELOPMENT OF NEXT-GENERATION ELECTROOPTICAL DEVICES” and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Bioengineering. His current research endeavors integrate chemistry and tissues engineering related areas, more specifically, the chemical characterization of decellularized biomaterial/scaffolds for tissue sources as alternatives to current cardiovascular autologous and synthetic transplant materials.
